Newsletter Design
Sewickley, PA
Artist, photographer, graphic designer, printmaker, museum designer.
Paul/Jay Associates created the Horizons newsletter designs in 1985 – 1988 for Marshall County Schools. Our design received an award at the Department of Education in the State of West Virginia for this work. This project was one of my favorites, before the introduction of Adobe Photoshop. The cover art used vertical camera capture of artwork requiring hand knife cutting of masks, spreads and chokes to ready the designs for our in-house offset printing. The newsletters were all printed as two-ink-color duotones on various colors of base paper stocks. The covers shown here were 8-1/2″ x 11″. The newsletters unfolded to a 17″ x 22″ broadsheet aka French fold configuration.
